Bill Zoeller is based out of central Wisconsin and joined J.S. Held in March of 2019 as a Project Manager within our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) practice. Now, Bill is a Vice President and oversees all EHS staff, inspections, and work products globally in our Industrial Hygiene and the Built Environment Practice. Throughout his career, he has handled both small residential claims and large commercial claims exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars. Bill has been engaged in matters involving infection control, contamination, smoke and water mapping, and regulated materials.

Bill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Biomedical Science from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse; however, he initially attended college to study physical therapy. C'est après avoir été intrigué par un cours de microbiologie auquel il avait assisté qu'il a décidé de changer de parcours. "After college, I was offered positions in pharmaceutical sales but required relocation," he explains, "and the first time I was offered a job in industrial hygiene, I actually declined (3 times). J'ai tout de même fini par accepter et je travaille dans ce secteur depuis lors. »
Before joining J.S. Held, Bill owned and operated a small industrial hygiene firm in Wisconsin for over 17 years, while his wife owned a restoration firm. Eventually, they decided to sell their businesses. « La leçon principale que j'ai tirée de mes années en indépendant porte sur la relation avec le client, et plus particulièrement sur l'importance de la création d'un lien de qualité avec lui au fil du temps », déclare-t-il.
Bill se souvient de la première fois qu'il a rencontré des conseillers J.S. Held sur un grand projet hospitalier. The hospital had millions of dollars in flooding damage. « Après avoir travaillé avec le groupe de conseil en construction de J.S. Held, j'ai été impressionné par le professionnalisme et l'expertise du personnel, partage-t-il. J'ai décidé de rejoindre J.S. Held afin de m'améliorer sur le plan personnel et professionnel. »
According to Bill, there is never a dull moment in the world of industrial hygiene disaster response. After a while, nothing comes as a surprise-except, he says, how often things such as health and safety laws and regulations are not well understood. "It amazes me to find out that a lot of people aren't aware of how asbestos regulations work," says Bill. "Many people think that asbestos is 'illegal or banned in the US,' for instance. It is also not commonly known that buildings are considered 'positive' for hazards such as asbestos until they are proven to be 'negative'."
Bill spends his time directing large or complex disasters nationally and internationally. He enjoys mentoring and teaching technical staff about consulting, communication, and being the calm in the midst of the storm.
Bill et son épouse ont cinq enfants, dont des jumeaux. Bill enjoys running the kids to all their sports and activities, as well as watching sports. Bill's wife and three of the children enjoy and spend much of their time outside of school, attending dog shows as handlers and owner handlers.
