Mike Agah is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of expertise in the oil, gas, and pipe manufacturing sectors, as well as forensic engineering and fire investigation. His career includes significant roles in operational plants and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firms across the United States, Canada, and the Middle East. Mike is committed to a practical approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting, specializing in diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical equipment failures, remediating damaged infrastructure, and performing cost estimations. He also has extensive experience with various industrial, commercial, and residential electrical installations.
Throughout his career, Mike's professional duties have encompassed electrical and mechanical investigations, remediation, and comprehensive project management. Leveraging his extensive knowledge of building systems, he has established a reputation as a distinguished forensic investigator within the insurance industry. He has conducted nearly 700 forensic and fire origin and cause investigations, leading over 550 of them.
Mike is certified as a Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), a Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI), and a Canadian Certified Fire Investigator (CCFI-C). He currently serves as the Director of Electrical Engineering and Fire Investigation in Canada, overseeing daily operations and delivering comprehensive electrical and mechanical investigative services. He also manages projects related to building and vehicle fires and explosions.
In his role at J.S. Held, Mike actively contributes to developing and completing forensic engineering projects in Canada. He collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team of forensic investigators and engineering experts to conduct property loss investigations, verify the cause of damages to structural and mechanical components, and evaluate their condition using appropriate field and lab failure examination methods. Mike has successfully assessed numerous machinery and equipment loss accidents and breakdowns, defining the scope of work for the restoration and replacement of electrical components damaged in industrial and manufacturing plants, as well as commercial and residential buildings.
Mike leads and supervises investigations of fire, explosion, and vehicle fire incidents, ensuring they meet industry standards and legal requirements. He collaborates with forensic investigators, engineers, insurance adjusters, and law enforcement, providing expert consultation and assisting legal teams. Effective communication with all parties and handling public relations related to fire and explosion incidents are key aspects of his role.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Shiraz, a Master of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Amir Kabir in Tehran, and a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Islamic Azad University Central Branch in Tehran.
